KLAUS HÄRÖ'S MY SAILOR, MY LOVE WON THE AUDIENCE AWARD AT THE CHICAGO FILM FESTIVAL
OVER 72,000 VIEWERS HAVE ALREADY SEEN THE FILM IN FINLAND.
The film My Sailor, My Love directed by Klaus Härö was awarded today with the Audience Award for Best International Film at the Chicago International Film Festival. The Chicago International Film Festival, established in 1964, is one of the most significant and the oldest film festival in the United States.
"It's great that the North American audience has also embraced the film. The film is expected to particularly attract senior viewers in the United States", says producer Kai Nordberg.
The film, produced by Helsinki-based Making Movies Oy and filmed in Ireland, stars James Cosmo, Bríd Brennan, and Catherine Walker. The film premiered worldwide at the Toronto International Film Festival in September and has already been sold for distribution to Australia, New Zealand, Spain, the UK, and Ireland.
My Sailor, My Love was produced by Kai Nordberg and Kaarle Aho. The original script was written by the writers of the successful film The Mother of Mine, Kirsi Vikman and Jimmy Karlsson. The film tells the story of an old sea captain who falls in love with his housekeeper. The man's adult daughter does not approve of the relationship and she wants to reclaim the father she never really had. My Sailor, My Love tells a timeless story of love, forgiveness, and caring.
The film is distributed by Nordisk Film and it premiered in cinemas throughout Finland on September 30, 2022.
